Summary[edit]
DescriptionAustralian mains socket styles for different current ratings.jpg |
English: Australian domestic (indoor, single phase) mains socket outlets are available in a range of different rated currents, as specified in the AS/NZS 3112 national standards document. This image shows each of the available current ratings side by side for comparison purposes.
Starting with the basic 10 A socket outlet, the width of the Earth pin is first increased for the 15A socket outlet, the width of the Line and Neutral pins are then increased for the 20 A socket outlet and the shape of the Earth pin is then changed for the 25 A and 32 A socket outlets, permitting only plugs of an equal or lesser current rating to be inserted into any socket outlet. The 10 A and 20 A socket outlets are Clipsal brand, and the others are Tesla brand (not affiliated with the car company). |
