Description
Deutsch: Der Verein zum Schutze deutscher Auswanderer in Texas, gegründet 1842 mit Sitz in Wiesbaden und einer Geschäftsstelle in Mainz, zählt zu den größten Auswanderergesellschaften in Deutschland während des 19. Jahrhunderts. Der Verein rechnet aber auch zu den eigentümlichsten Unternehmungen seiner Art: Seine Mitglieder waren ausschließlich Angehörige des Hochadels in zumeist militärischen Funktionen. Man sprach deshalb auch vom Adelsverein. Ziel war es, den auswanderungswilligen Deutschen eine Heimat in der neuen Welt zu bieten.
