English: On a walk over around the city to see what has been happening while I was away on holiday 14 March 2014 Christchurch, New Zealand.
These Dramatic timber arches have been installed on a vacant city centre site and could be used for a new Christchurch market. The six-metre high vaulted arcade is a temporary structure built on the site of the former Crowne Plaza hotel on the corner of Durham and Kilmore streets. The project is a joint venture between the Festival of Transitional Architecture (Festa), architecture graduate Andrew Just, film lecturer Ryan Reynolds and city centre regeneration group Life in Vacant Spaces. Festa head Jessica Halliday said market stalls would be set up facing into the arcade to create an intimate, urban space inside the arches. The structure is relocatable and could also be covered with fabric to create an interior venue.
