Summary[edit]
DescriptionAuxiliary Battery & CTEK charger.jpg |
Today I installed a dual battery system for the car to run a 12 v portable fridge/Freezer. The100 A/hr AGM battery is charged by D250S charger via the car alternator when the motor is running in addition to the fridge being powered. When the motor stops the AGM battery powers the fridge. Should be able to run like this for about 1.5 days. The CTEK charger also has an input for the 125 W portable solar cell. Items and cost Waeco CF 50 DZ $1200 CTEK D250S DC/DC BATTERY CHARGER $369 Extra Heavy Duty Prostar 12V 100Ah AGM Deep Cycle Battery $354 (Deep Cycle Solar Batteries www.deepcyclesolarbatteries.com.au/products/12v-100ah-dee...) Eco-Camper 125W Flexible Solar Panel $1400 Wires, lugs, plugs etc. $100 Total $3,423 All items except the Waeco fridge were purchased online See the video @ www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEyvxA2Vj6U Update: Had a dedicated fused line installed in the car from the battery to the dc/dc charger as the 12v car accessory line was sufficient to carry the current to charge the battery. Cost $300 |
