Description
English: Located at 125 Bull Street, Charleston, SC 29424 in the historic Harleston Village. Constructed in 1867 to 1868, the Avery Normal Institute was Charleston's first free secondary school for African Americans. Itnow holds the archives and museum for Afro-American history and culture in the South Carolina Lowcountry.
