Summary[edit]

Description
English: The village is located in Ban Ton Pho and Ban PaiNong, Ta Chang sub-district, Nakorn Luang district. Their ancestors were natives of Vientiane, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, and migrated to Thailand in the early Rattanakosin Era, most of whom were goldsmiths and blacksmiths. Their reputation of knife production has been highly recognized since King Rama III.

People call “Aranyik” knives because in the past they were sold in Aranyik market. The knives are renowned for their durability and exquisite craftsmanship, some of which last for a lifetime as their thin cutting edge is made of high quality steel. Moreover, a seal affixed onto a knife displays the authenticity. Presently, Aranyik knives are tailor-made for specific use, divided into 4 categories being: farming, domestic chores, weapons, and others.

The village also features the Aranyik Handicraft Museum located in Ban Ton Pho, depicting the history of the village, knife production, and tools used for the traditional production.
