Description
Nederlands: Onder een moeraseik op het Kloosterplein in Vinkeveen staat dit bronzen beeld van een veenarbeider, een turfsteker. De turfsteker is een toepasselijk symbool voor het dorp, omdat de Vinkeveense Plassen zijn ontstaan door vervening. Die turf werd vinke genoemd, een lichte kwaliteit turf. De turfsteker heeft een stikijzer in de handen, hij is bezig met het steken van de turf. Het beeld is in 1980 bij het jubileum van de Rabobank aan de bevolking geschonken. Het museum De Ronde Venen in Vinkeveen laat het verhaal van de turfwinning herleven.
