În anul 1910 se anunţă concursul pentru proiectarea unei clădiri noi pentru Colegiul Reformat ce răspunde necesităţilor contemporane de educaţie şcolară elementară şi liceală. Un număr de 17 proiecte sunt trimise pentru jurizare, iar proiectul câştigător (cu autorul Magyar Vilmos) este realizat fără modificări semnificative pe parcursul execuţiei lucrărilor. Stilul clădirii poartă semnele secesionului vienez cu caracter tectonic echilibrat. Motivele decorative stilizate ale stucaturii în tencuială pe faţade au trimiteri la ştiinţele naturii şi ştiinţele tehnice.
