Nederlands: Deze afbeelding betreft de eerste (bekende) gepubliceerde foto gemaakt op Aruba. Dr. Johan Hartog omschreef het als volgt:

"Fort Zoutman (1796) en de Toren Willem III (uit 1867) naar een foto uit 1885. Waar nu kantoren en huizen staan, strekte zich toen een kale rotsvlakte uit. Het oude huisje, nu de Agencia Maritima Mercantil van J.L. Hart, staat er nog."
