These reefs serve a dual purpose as both barriers and guardians, shielding the adjacent mangrove forest from the relentless force of powerful waves. In this marine environment, seagrasses and seaweeds reign supreme. Baliangao stands as a sanctuary for a diverse collection of mangrove species, encompassing a minimum of 21 distinct varieties. Notably, the Rhizophora, commonly referred to as "bakawan," prevails as the most abundant species. These mangroves play an indispensable role, providing a safe haven and nesting grounds for a multitude of waterbird species
