Original Message ----- From : Alan Stanton, Tottenham Hale ward councillor To : Haringey Urban Environment Department cc : Bruce Grove ward councillors Sent : Monday, October 12, 2009 12:09 AM Subject : Pile of cans & bottles on railway embankment, St Loy's Road Please see the photo posted on Flickr and here. The photos - taken on 10 October 2009 - show more cans, bottles and other litter dumped over a wall on the railway embankment in St Loys Road N17. Below the wall were black rubbish bags in the usual dumping spot on the pavement. It's a great shame that littering and dumping continues at this location. It contrasts with the significant improvement achieved by the Council and Haringey Enterprise just round the corner in Moorefield Road. On 10 March 2009 you emailed that a meeting was set up with Network Rail to draw up an Action Plan to maintain their land where there was litter and dumping. Haringey wanted to "work alongside Network Rail" as the best way get their compliance without the need for enforcement. You explained the meeting would give Network Rail time to comply. But they were expected to clear and maintain their land at an acceptable level - with enforcement action taken if they did not. Also on 10 March I passed on suggestions for litter bins on St Loys Road - possibly sponsored by Network Rail. ► Can you please tell me what progress has been made in agreeing and carrying out the Action Plan by Network Rail ? ►Can you please consider what further steps could be taken to prevent or discourage dumping at this spot - including on the railway embankment? |
