| Description |
English: Here are the two headsails and the bowsprit. Forward is the screecher, which is a very large sail. It is mounted out on the bowsprit, which is what allows it to be so big. Behind it is the blade jib, which is wrapped around the forestay, which prevents the mast from collapsing backwards. Notice also the two lines attached to the front of the bowsprit, which counteract the upward tension of the screecher. The metal wire braced above the jib furler is the "seagull striker" which counteracts the upward pull of the jib and the forestay. |
