Description
Español: Balaustrada con cornucopia. Parque Arqueológico del Coliseo. Siglo III d. C. Mármol. Este fragmento de balaustrada con cornucopia tallada en redondoconstituía el extermo superior de la balaustrada para proteger las escaleras de acceso a la cávea. Muestra una cornucopia, es decir, unrecipiente en forma de cuerno, del que emergne espigas y frutos, entre los que se puede reconcocer algunas manzanas. El número de balaustradas laterales en el Coliseo era de 64: a ambos lados delimitaban las 32 entradas totales del primer y segundo sector. Sin embargo, solo unos pocos tenían decoración con cornucopia, ya que se han hallado fragmentos de balaustradas con otros motivos ornamentales.
