English: Photograph of the second floor staircase balustrade at Rosewell Plantation, Carter's Creek, Gloucester County, Virginia, circa 1880-1900. Built by the Page family, the house was later sold and stripped of many of its architectural elements, including much of its mahogany wainscoting. This photograph shows what remains of the second floor balustrade. The house burned in 1916. Photograph is from "Colonial Mansions and Those Who Lived in Them, with Genealogies of the Various Families Mentioned," by Thomas Allen Glenn, published by Henry T. Coates & Company, Philadelphia, Penn., 1899. |
