Description
English: Cousins of Bamberger families from Lichtenfels, Coburg and Hanover during their final get-together in the garden of villa "Sonnenhaus" in Lichtenfels, Upper Franconia, Bavaria during summer holidays 1937 before Nazi-caused emigration in 1938/39. The names or nicks and their spelling are historically correct and refer to those they originally had when this picture was created.

On the left of the picture stands 14 year old Rudolf "Rudi" Walter Bamberger (born January 24, 1923 in Coburg), sitting on the far right of the bench his 11 year old sister Gertrude "Traudl" (born 1926 in Coburg), both children of Alfred David and Regina "Regi" Bamberger, nee Schwarzhaupt.

The elevated girl sitting on the backrest placing her shoes on the bench's seat is 14 year old Anna Margarete "Annegret" Bamberger (born 1923 in Bamberg) while her 10 year old sister Eva (born June 23, 1927 in Lichtenfels) sits on the bench as second from the right. They are both daughters of Ludwig and Thea Bamberger, nee Spier.

13 year old Vera J. Bamberger (born March 18, 1924 in Hanover) is sitting on the bench as second from the left while her 16 year old brother Gerhard Franz Philipp Bamberger (born Sep 20, 1920 in Hanover) misses on this picture because during his summer holidays he was supposed to work in his father's homeoffice in Hanover. Both are the children of Anton and Else "Elsie" Bamberger, nee Magnus.

The little girl who sits on the left of the bench is 7 year old Gabriele "Gabi" E. Bamberger (born 1930 in Hanover) while her 12 year old sister Susanne "Suse" Helene Bamberger (born May 14, 1925 in Hanover) is placed in front on the grass, both daughters of Hugo and Margarete "Gretel" Bamberger, nee Schwarzhaupt.

On the right in suit and tie 16 year old Klaus Philipp Bamberger (born Sep 23, 1920 in Bamberg). His 22 year old sister Ruth Bamberger (born Oct 14, 1914 in Lichtenfels) has placed her forearms on the backrest of the bench so the upper part of her body is bent forward which makes her appear smaller. Both are the children of Otto and Henriette "Jetta" Bamberger, nee Wolff. The couple hosts these annual gatherings in Lichtenfels, because they can provide the most space of all the families involved (a villa with guest rooms, house staff and large garden). Hiking and cycling trips through the region can be undertaken, swimming in nearby river Main, horse-drawn carriages as well as a green Mercedes 170 C Cabriolet are getting provided. In addition, the children are always looking forward to explore the company D. Bamberger's warehouses as they most likely will detect something which they can use to play or tinker with.

Das erhaben positionierte Mädchen auf der Rückenlehne der Sitzbank, das mit den Schuhen auf der Sitzfläche der Bank steht, ist die 14-jährige Anna Margarete „Annegret“ Bamberger (geboren 1923 in Bamberg), während ihre 10-jährige Schwester Eva (geboren am 23. September 1920 in Hannover) auf diesem Gruppenfoto leider fehlt, weil er während seiner Schweizer Schulferien im Heimbüro seines Vaters in Hannover arbeiten musste. Beide sind die Kinder des Anton und der Else „Elsie“ Bamberger, geb. Magnus.

Zu seiner Rechten lehnt seine 22-jährige Schwester Ruth Bamberger (geboren am 14. Oktober 1914 in Lichtenfels) vorgebeugt mit den Unterarmen auf der Rückenlehne der Bank, was sie kleiner erscheinen lässt. Beide sind die Kinder des Otto und der Henriette „Jetta“ Bamberger, geb. Wolff. Das Ehepaar ist Gastgeber dieser jährlichen Treffen in Lichtenfels, weil es von allen beteiligten Familien den meisten Platz zur Verfügung stellen kann (Villa mit Gästezimmern, Hauspersonal und weitläufigem Garten) und von dort aus Wander- und Fahrradausflüge in die oberfränkische Region und Schwimmausflüge zum nahegelegenen Fluss (Main) unternommen werden können. Pferdekutschen, Pferdefuhrwerke und ein grünes Mercedes 170 Cabriolet werden bei Bedarf vorgehalten. Darüber hinaus reizt es die Kinder, die Lagerhallen des Unternehmens D. Bamberger auf der Suche nach für sie verwertbarem Spiel- und Bastelmaterial zu erforschen.
