Thanks to this helpful video, I successfully removed the bearing from the hard drive spindle motor: <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSxjvkh-uys" rel="noreferrer nofollow">www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSxjvkh-uys</a> The trick is to take a punch or large screw and place it in the indent in the back of the motor. Tap with a hammer, and the bearing will fall out. (Be sure to support the motor by the flange (or the hard drive casing).) Keep in mind that you can't reassemble the motor after doing this, so if you want to use the motor, you shouldn't remove the bearing. |
