Español: D. Francisco Morillas y Morillas, como el "alma mater" de Bellavista. Hizo una cierta fortuna en Argentina y al volver, compró un gran trozo de la finca matriz que después dio origen al Barrio. Junto con otros tres propietarios, parcelaron y vendieron dichas parcelas y la Barriada fue creciendo. A su trozo de finca la bautizó con el nombre de Bellavista, unos dicen que en honor al barrio bonaerense dónde vivió en Argentina, cosa no comprobada y otros achacan el nombre a las bellas vistas que desde aquí se tienen de la capital. Yo me inclino a pensar que se debe a esta última razón, puesto que su empeño fue hacer una urbanización, casi de recreo, para una cierta burguesía acomodada sevillana y qué mejor lugar que uno que tuviera bellas vistas y un aire límpido y sano, como este cerro tenía entonces. Además, esto se corrobora con la abundancia de chalets magníficos que jalonaban la antigua Cañada Real de la Armada (Carretera vieja de Dos Hermanas), adonde esa burguesía acudía en, sobre todo, los meses del verano huyendo de las altas temperaturas del centro de Sevilla.
Con el paso del tiempo, el nombre que Morillas había elegido para su trozo de finca, se trasladó a la totalidad del Barrio, sustituyendo al antiguo y coetáneo de Barriada de La Salud. Hubo épocas en las que se usaba indistintamente un nombre u otro. Esta foto, por su importancia, abre el libro "Bellavista en imágenes", editado en 1999 y del que aun, en alguna librería del Barrio, quedan algunos de los dos mil ejemplares que se editaron. |
