Secondo The Guardian i suoi romanzi sono rivoluzionari. Secondo Jeffrey Euginides (l’autore de "Il giardino delle vergini suicide"), "chiunque si interessi alla migliore letteratura contemporanea dovrebbe passare da lui". Granta l'ha inserito tra i "best young american novelist" del 2017.
