Description
Deutsch: Der sogenannte Nickelmannbrunnen (als Nickelmann wird ein Wassergeist, Nöck, oder Nix bezeichnet), erbaut 1904 an der Nordwestseite des Nollendorfplatzes unter der Hochbahntrasse, Berlin-Schöneberg. Einst ein funktionierender Zierbrunnen, heute nur Schmuckelement. Die Gestaltung wird häufig einem gewissen Otto Westphal zugeschrieben. Tatsächlich war der Bildhauer Georg Karl Ernst Westphal (1851-1926)[1].
English: The so-called Nickelmannbrunnen (Water spirit fountain - "Nickelmann" is a term for a Nix or Merman), built in 1904 on the north-western end of Nollendorfplatz underneath the elevated rail viaduct, Berlin-Schöneberg. Once a functioning fountain, today it is merely a decorative element. The design is often falsely attributed to an Otto Westphal. The sculptor was however Georg Karl Ernst Westphal (1851-1926)[2].
