Boeing 777 of Biman Bangladesh Airlines at Brussels Airport. Passengers from Dacca had no idea what hit them when they came down the stairs of this aircraft. They probably never were that cold in their lives. The 777-200ER operated DAC-LHR when it was diverted on Saturday December 18, and when LHR was still closed on Monday December 20 the passengers were finally able to travel to the UK by bus and ferry. Together over 3300 passengers spent the night in the airport terminal transit area. It was quite a challenge (Saturday night, unexpected, roads covered with snow) to provide beds and catering for such a large group of guests in a building that is not made for this. But that's exactly what airport crisis plans are for ;) |
