Description
Deutsch: Der Begriff Biozönose wurde im Jahr 1877 von Karl August Möbius geprägt, der die auf einer Austernbank lebenden Organismen als eine Lebensgemeinschaft auffasste (Karl August Möbius: Die Auster und die Austernwirthschaft. Verlag von Wiegandt, Hemple & Parey, 1877)

Möbius hatte an Austernbänken der Nordsee und des Atlantiks festgestellt, dass eine große Artenvielfalt die Widerstandsfähigkeit von Lebensgemeinschaften zu stärkt. Die von ihm im 19ten Jahrhundert erforschten Austernbänke sind heute alle durch Raubbau vernichtet.

Hier sieht man eine Biozöonose im Verlandungsbereich am Südheller der Nordseeinsel Wangerooge. Dies ist der Bereich, in dem (um 2021) auch Surfer und Wassersportler das Watt nutzen dürfen.
