Description

Bulman, W. J. Birds Eye View City of Winnipeg [map]. Scale not given. W.J. Bulman, 1900.

This bird's-eye view of Winnipeg was published on the eve of Winnipeg's second wave of phenomenal growth (the first wave occurred in the 1880s just prior to the arrival of the railway). A flood of immigrants, high wheat prices, excellent rail connections, and improved farming technology helped Winnipeg to become Canada's third-largest city by 1914, and Canada's fourth-largest city in terms of its manufacturing capability.
