Description
English: Bust of König Karl XII. von Schweden at Interior of Schloss Sanssouci. The portrait bust of the Swedish king and general Charles XII. (1682-1718) was commissioned by Queen Ulrike of Sweden (1720-1782, since her marriage in 1744 Lovisa Ulrica) based on the model of the sculptor Jacues-Philipp Bouchardon (1711-1753) from 1747. The bronze foundry was made by the Stockholm caster Gerhard Meyer (1704-1784) in the year after the sculptor's death,The bust came to Potsdam in 1755 as a gift from the Queen to her brother, King Friedrich II of Prussia (1712-1786), and was placed in the marble hall of the Sanssouci Palace
