Description
Lake Biwa is the largest freshwater lake in Japan lying northeast in relation to Kyoto. This large body of water occupies the center of the photo; a bridge is visible in the background. A structure stands in the left hand corner with four men observing the scenery. Grace Ward wrote on the back of the photograph "By sail before reaching Kioto."
