[edit]DescriptionBlack Sea settlements of the Archaic and Classical Periods by earliest literary 'foundation' date.svg |
English: en|1=Map of the Black Sea area (modern shorelines) and the Sea of Marmara with the main settlements of the Archaic and early Classical Period classified by their earliest 'foundation' date in the ancient literary sources.
Sources:Dates and previous local population data from Tsetskhladze 2006, lxvii-lxxiii. Modern names and names of sites with uncertain ancient associations in italics. Note that Sinope has two foundation dates, with Pseudo-Scymnus suggesting pre-757 BCE, and Eusebius, the early 7th century. Pseudo-Scymnus' date was used here, as it is the earliest.
