Notes This painting was commissioned for Paine's serialized work on Blackbeard,[1] and was published in Paine, Ralph Delahaye (1922) "Appears in Fire and Brimstone" in Blackbeard, Buccaneer, Pennsylvania, United States: The Penn Publishing Company, pp. Plate facing p. 224 . The painting was exhibited at the Delaware Art Museum from 22 Nov 2008 – 1 Feb 2009.
