| Description |
10/8/2013: 220 mostly cows and some calves, gone in an instant. The strong winds, cold rain and heavy snow of Blizzard Atlas drove livestock into this steep-sided draw and to their deaths. Seven people worked to remove the animals and move them to a suitable burial pit. The terrain in many places where animals perished makes recovery very difficult, at best. This group was adjacent to a major county road, clearly visible to the public. Water quality is a concern so it was important to get the animals removed from the pond. Through the use of heavy equipment and good neighbors, the landowner was able to recover these carcasses and place them in a burial pit.
