Blowing an ox horn in a folk festival,Ox horn or natural animal horn with a mouthpiece, being held in playing position

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Hunters have used blowing horns for thousands of years to communicate in forests and over long distances. The sound of the blowing horn can be heard much farther and clearer than yells and so it is no wonder that horns have been used in both war and peace, long before written history. Precise series of blows could have meant for example an alarm, attack command, signal that game has been caught, assembly call, retreat call, calling the dogs, need for help etc.
