Summary

[edit]
Description
English: An inbound MBTA Commuter Rail train from Worcester to Boston is stopped at Newtonville station on Track 1. The three stations in Newton only have platforms adjacent to Track 2 (a legacy from the construction of the Massachusetts Turnpike in the 1960s) and therefore trains on Track 1 are almost always express trains that do not stop in Newton. However, there are wooden boardwalks that provide access to Track 1 should a train ever need to stop and receive/discharge passengers there. Due to a Sperry Rail Testing vehicle that had passed a few minutes earlier blocking access to Track 2, this Sunday morning train in April 2024 was forced to stop on Track 1 and utilize the typically emergency-only boardwalks to board passengers.
