Klaus Bochmann

Description
English: Klaus Bochmann, born 1939 in Dresden, was professor of Romance linguistics at the University of Leipzig until retirement. He studied Romance Studies in Leipzig and Bucharest, taught at the Universities of Leipzig and Halle-Wittenberg, and was co-founder and director of the France Center and founder of the Québec Archive at the University of Leipzig. He has been a member of the Saxon Academy of Sciences in Leipzig since 2002, whose linguistics commission he heads, and is currently Chairman of the Moldova Institute Leipzig eV The University of Alba Iulia (Romania) and the Moldavian State University Chișinău awarded him an honorary doctorate.

Klaus Bochmann published approx. 30 book titles and 250 scientific essays, especially on French, Italian and Romanian language history and sociolinguistics (language policy, minority languages ​​and identity research).
