Notes
Italiano: Precedentemente indicato nel catalogo di Prandi come “Uomo con barba (Giuseppe De Nittis?” è invece da considerarsi con molta probabilità il ritratto di Edgar Degas, grande amico di Boldini, che lo ritrarrà in altre due incisioni. L’attribuzione si deve alla Professoressa Rosalba Dinoia che avanza la nuova proposta in un interessantissimo saggio sull’incisione comparso all’interno del catalogo della mostra ferrarese “Degas e gli italiani a Parigi”.

L’incisione è nota in soli dodici esemplari, di cui due tirati da Boldini su carta bianca, due su carta Rives prima dell’acciaiatura della lastra da parte di Delatre nel 1931 numerati 3/12 e 4/12, e otto esemplari su carta Giappone tirati da Delatre nel 1931, siglati E.B.C. e numerati da 5/12 a 12/12.

Impressione eccellente, foglio intonso. Perfetto stato di conservazione eccetto due leggerissime abrasioni vicino all’occhio destro.
