Description
Deutsch: Die Europa-Sonnenuhr (UCCE-Stele) am Rathenauufer wurde am 5. Mai 1989 anläßlich der Vollversammlung der UCCE (Union des Capitales de la Communaute Europeenne) in Bonn als Symbol der Freundschaft innerhalb der EG-Union eingeweiht. Gestiftet wurde die Uhr von Firma Brenner & Klaudt zum Stadtjubiläum 1989.

Die Granitsäule mit Marmorkapitell hat eine Höhe von 150 cm und trägt folgende Inschriften:

Hauptuhr (im Uhrzeigersinn von innen nach außen): „W S O / MEZ / [arab. Ziffern] 8 - 1 /12 - 5/ SOMMERZEIT / 9 - 1 / 12 - 6“ Säule,

oberes Band: „BONN ± 0 LONDON -1 ATHEN +1 KOPENHAGEN ± 0 LISSABON -1 MADRID ± 0“

unteres Band: „PARIS ± 0 LUXEMBURG ± 0 ROM ± 0 AMSTERDAM ± 0 BRÜSSEL ± 0 DUBLIN -1“ darunter: „UCCE“ (umgeben von 12 Sternen)

Der Zeiger der Uhr ist nach Norden ausgerichtet, die Sterne symbolisieren die Union der damaligen 12 EG-Hauptstädte, die Zahl hinter dem Städtenamen gibt die Zeitdifferenz auf Bonn bezogen an. Die Säule ist auf der Rückseite signiert: „ANTON / SCHMITZ / FECIT / 1988“[1]
