Dans un bonsaï de style Sekijoju, les racines de l'arbre enveloppent la roche, une association étroite est visible entre le monde végétal et le monde minéral. Les bonsaïs de ce style évoquent les montagnes et mettent en valeur les capacités d'adaptation du monde végétal à un milieu hostile.


La collection de bonsaïs 66 pièces exceptionnelles composent ce trésor végétal : issues de la collection de Rémy Samson, 60 d’entre elles ont été acquises fin 2013 par le Département ; les 6 autres ont été offertes par le collectionneur.
