[edit]DescriptionBorgward BX7 in China.jpg |
English: Place: Liping, Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province
Chinese name: 宝沃BX7 (bǎowò BX7) Year of launch: 2015 Borgward was a German automobile manufacturer founded by Carl F.W. Borgward. Apart from Borgward, cars were sold under the Hansa, Goliath and Lloyd brands. Most famous product is without a doubt the Borgward Isabella. In 1961 Borgward went into financial problems and ceased its operations. Borgward still managed to pay all of its creditors and still had 4.5 million Marks left over from the business. The demise of Borgward has been an interesting one, with some conspiracy theories, but it seems Borgward could have easily overcome its financial problems of 1961. The Borgward brand was revived at the IAA Frankfurt 2015 autoshow, thanks to Carl Borgward's grandson, Christian Borgward, with his partner Karlheinz L. Knöss, and assistance from Chinese investment by Chinese truck and carmaker Foton, itself a subsidiary of state-owned company BAIC. Its first product was the BX7, and it was followed by the BX5 in 2017. |
