The auto- stationary danger signal practically sayto an engineer, You stop now or I willstop you, and to enable the signal tofollow up its danger indication by posi-tive and eiTective action. The derail is a device which had itsorigin in the necessity for enforcingobedience to signals, but the derail is a passengers.
