Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Geysers are hot springs that episodically erupt columns of water. They occur in few places on Earth. The highest concentration of geysers anywhere is at the Yellowstone Hotspot Volcano (northwestern Wyoming, USA).

A new, small hydrothermal feature near Plume Geyser was first noticed in Yellowstone's Geyser Hill Group in May or early June of 2015. It is located just west of Plume Geyser & east-northeast of Beehive Geyser. The vent is at 44° 27’ 45.90” North latitude, 110° 49’ 46.27” West longitude. This feature has been nicknamed “Bottlecap Geyser”.

In spring 2016, the thin geyserite/siliceous sinter crust around the vent was reported to be flexible and pulsing. By summer 2016, the vent had enlarged and developed a jagged, angular shape.

In summer 2017, the vent had enlarged further and cyclic low eruptions were occurring.
