Description
English: The Boulton Paul Type C gun turret was used in the nose and mid-upper positions on Handley Page Halifax bombers and also in the dorsal position on Lockheed Hudson patrol aircraft.

This example is a Mk.IIA and was fitted to Hudson Mk.Ⅲ ‘FH375 / V’ of 500 (County of Kent) Squadron, Coastal Command. The aircraft crashed during an air-test on 31st July 1942 when it flew into the summit of Fiar Chreag (Big Rock) on the Isle of Lewis. Sadly the three crew, Flying Officer J.D.B.Rigby, Pilot Officer S.R.Hancock and Sergeant B.S.C. Rixson, were all killed. Substantial remains of the aircraft are still at the remote crash site, but the turret was recovered by members of the Cotswold Recovery Group and has now been completely restored.
