Summary
[edit]DescriptionBowl Joseon puncheong 1500-1600 British Museum.jpg |
English: Stoneware bowl with slip decoration under a greenish grey glaze. Punch'ong ware, D. 18 cm. Joseon Dynasty, 15th century. This is the most common shape for punchong wares. The 'rope curtain' pattern, together with chrysanthemums, is also often used. The decoration would have been stamped on the leather-hard body and then the bowl dipped in the slip. When the excess slip had been wiped off, a transparent glaze would have been applied and the bowl fired. British Museum. Registration number 1911,0607.22
British Museum |
