Description
Deutsch: Brand (Sächsische Schweiz): Inschrift in der Thümmelgrotte. Die Grotte wurde um 1820 vom Hohnsteiner Revierförster Ludwig Jacob von Carlowitz angelegt. Sie ist nach dem Schriftsteller Moritz August von Thümmel (1738 - 1817) benannt. Der Vers entstammt Thümmels Hauptwerk "Reise in die mittägigen Provinzen von Frankreich". Er lautet:

Wohl mir, daß mir noch unverwöhnet

Die Lockung der Natur gefällt,

Solch eine Gegend, Freund, versöhnet

Mich mit dem Ueberrest der Welt.

Man wird des Lebens überdrüssig

Auf aller Ebb und Fluth der Stadt,

Doch hier, geschäftig oder müßig

Wird keiner seines Daseins satt.
