Description
Nederlands: Naast de luchtmacht werd ook de landmacht ingeschakeld om ervoor te zorgen dat het vuur bij het Limburgse Herkenbosch niet verder zou verspreiden. 13 Lichte brigade werd ingeschakeld om met 2 tanks een fikse stoplijn te creëren van 400 meter lang en 40 meter breed. Een avond en nacht lang werd aan de brandgang gewerkt, waarbij struiken en bomen met wortel en al gerooid werden. “Het vuur kwam uiteindelijk tot 50 meter voor onze locatie”, vertelt een sergeant-majoor van 411 Pantsergeniecompagnie.
