Description
English: British Mark V Armor Piercing round, found at the Former Fort Hancock, Sandy Hook, New Jersey, on 12 December 2011. The projectile was found underground near the beach on the east side of the peninsula by contractors working for the United States Army Corps of Engineers. The item is approximately 4.5 inches in diameter.
This item is pictured in FINAL MMRP REMEDIAL INVESTIGATION REPORT, Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study, Fort Hancock Formerly Used Defense Site, Monmouth County, New Jersey, January 2014, Appendix C-4 (MEC Photos), photo 9, where it is described as a 4.5-in Mark V AP HE round (MEC), from Grid 5-11.
