Summary

[edit]
Description
English: In this area that was probably once mostly mountain big sagebrush steppe, Bromus tectorum (cheatgrass) is very uncommon, except where herbicides are excessively applied. In this area of Kelly Canyon east of Bozeman, Hypericum perforatum (St. John's Wort), a Montana state listed noxious weed, has been sprayed for at least several decades and is still as common as it was 30 years ago. The only change is a loss of sagebrush habitat along with the native grasses (mainly Festuca idahoensis, Agropyron spicatum, and Koeleria macrantha) and an increase in the local patch of Bromus tectorum.
