Description

Română: Bucuresti, Romania. PASAJUL MACCA VILACROSSE (4) (B-II-a-A-19837). Este unul dintre cele mai spectaculoase vestigii arhitectonice ale Bucureştiului de odinioară. O adevărată bijuterie, ce rivaliza în epocă cu pasajele similare din Paris şi Londra. Pasajul Villacrosse poartă numele românului de origine catalană Xavier Villacrosse, arhitect-șef al Bucureștilor între anii 1840-1850. Început în 1861 de Felix Xenopol, pasajul acoperit cu sticlă și în formă de potcoavă alungită, a fost terminat în 1891. Forma ciudată, cu două intrări şi o clădire pe centru se datorează faptului că, în momentul construcţiei, proprietarul imobilului din mijloc nu a acceptat demolarea acestuia, pentru că era un hotel profitabil. Astfel că arhitectul a trebuit să îl integreze şi a reuşit acest lucru într-un mod cu adevărat special
