Summary[edit]

Description
English: As seen in June 2022, the home office of the Traffic Division of the Buffalo Police Department is found at 1345 Bailey Avenue (corner Moreland Street) in the Lovejoy section of the city. Opened in 1955, this building was one of three identical ones designed contemporaneously for the police department by the firm of Duane Lyman & Associates (the others are found on Louisiana Street in the First Ward and on Michigan Avenue on the Near East Side). Modernist in design, the horizontal orientation of this low-slung edifice is emphasized by the division of the façade into three layers of different-colored brick, with decorative masonry work in geometric designs flanking the windows in the center layer. The entrance is framed by a pair of stout concrete pillars etched with recessed grooves flush with the top of the door and the bottoms of the windows. The building served its original purpose - namely as the station house of Precinct 11 (later known as the Broadway Station) - until 2000, when the culmination of a seven-year-long consolidation process saw policing for most of the southern half of the East Side headquartered at the new District C building at the corner of Fillmore Avenue and East Ferry Street.
