Description

SANTA RITA, Guam (Aug. 22, 2013)-Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Marianas construction manager, Lt. Noel Macatangay (pictured left) is back from building partnerships. Macatangay deployed to the Republic of Kiribati and servedas the Advance Onsite Engineer (ADVON) for Pacific Partnership 2013, a combined effort with the goal of improving maritime security, conducting humanitarian assistance and strengthening disaster response preparedness throughout the Indo-Asia Pacific region. Macatangay was part of a team that included Army engineers from New Zealand, Australia and worked with members of the Kiribati Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Public Works, Education and Ministry of Health. "This was an excellent experience," said Macatangay on his nearly month-long deployment. "As a NAVFAC CEC Officer, it was extremely rewarding to participate in Pacific Partnership because of the unique experience, training and knowledge we bring to the table. It changes people's lives for the better in all host nations and we are all taking part in making partnerships stronger."
