Description
English: c/n 5622

Built in April 1944 for the US Navy with the Bureau No. 50375 She served with VF-10 & VF-89 before being withdrawn from active service in February 1945 and stored at Quantico, Virginia. She was struck off charge for museum use in April 1946 and then stored at NAS Norman, Oklahoma, until 1958 when she was moved to NAs Norfolk, Virginia. In 1960 she was transferred to the Smithsonian Institute and moved to Silver Hill, Maryland, for further storage. She was restored in 1980 and painted to represent a Corsair operated by Marine Corps unit VMF-113, based in the Marshall Islands in July 1944. Between 1993 and 2003 she was loaned to the Virginia Air & Space Center in Hampton, Virginia, and went on display there. She is now one of the first exhibits you see when entering the Steven F. Udvar Hazy Center, part of the National Air and Space Museum. Washington Dulles International Airport, Chantilly, Virginia
