For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme. Ost-Berlin-Schloß-Vorkriegsaufnahme Die Baugeschichte des Schloßes begann bereits mit dem 1443-1451 an der Spree entstandenen kleinen Schloß Kurfürst Friedrichs II. 1698 wurde unter Leitung Andreas Schlüters ein einheitlich geplanter Bau begonnen, und zwar erbaute er - unter Benutzung der vorhandenen Flügel - die Fassaden des kleinenninneren Hofes (Schlüterhof), in dem die bekannten Serenaden stattfanden. Das Schloß existiert heute nicht mehr. Die Ruine wurde auf Befehl des Sowjetstatthalters Ulbricht abgerissen, der Schloßplatz samt dem Lustgarten einplaniert und zu einer Aufmarschstätte mit dem Namen "Marx-Engels-Platz" umgestaltet. |
