For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Ein Turm auf dem Bahnsteig Friedrichstrasse. Auf dem Stadtbahnsteig des Bahnhofs Friedrichstrasse in Berlin wird ein etwa sechs Meter hoher "Kommandoturm" für den Aufsichtsbeamten errichtet werden. Das Obergeschoß wird nach allen Seiten große Glasfenster haben und so einen ungehinderten Ausblick nach allen Seiten gewähren. Die S-Bahnzüge werden von diesem Obergeschoß aus abgefertigt. Auch die Fahrtrichtungsanzeiger auf dem Bahnsteig werden von dort aus gestellt. Im Untergeschoß soll eine Auskunft für sämtliche S-Bahnverbindungen und Anschlüsse eingerichtet werden. Dieser Turm ist der erste seiner Art in ganz Deutschland. UBz: Der Turm, kurz vor seiner Inbetriebnahme. Zentralbild-Köhler Kno-We. 21.8.1952"
