For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Felgentreu, Informationswagen zum Kartoffelkäfer Illus Klein Gr.-Be. 12.7.1951 Tierschau im Umsiedlerdorf Felgentreu (Kreis Luckenwalde), das in der Hitlerzeit als Artillerie-Übungsziel der Wehrmacht zerstört wurde. 1945 fanden viele Umsiedler hier eine neue Heimat und damit zog neues Leben in das Dorf ein. Der Anfang war schwer und verlangte von den neuen Dorfbewohnern den Einsatz aller Kräfte. Die alten, stark beschädigten Häuser mußten wieder instandgesetzt werden, und darüber hinaus entstanden viele Neubauernhäuser. Urwüchsiges Brachland mußte gerodet werden, das heute bereits seine Früchte trägt. Eine Dorftierschau am 8.7.1951 zeugte auch von den guten Erfolgen der Viehzucht in Felgentreu. UBz: Dieser anschauliche Stand soll die Landbevölkerung über die Herkunft und Schädlichkeit des Kartoffelkäfers aufklären.
