For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Berlin, Unter den Linden ADN-ZB Roeske 28.9.84 roe-Berlin: Die Geschichte des 1 390 m langen und 60 m breiten Boulevards "Unter den Linden" zwischen dem Brandernburger Tor und dem Marx-Engels-Platz geht zurück bis ins 18. und 19. Jahrhundert. Zahlreiche repräsentative Bauten wie das Museum für Deutsche Geschichte (Hintergrund links) säumen die Straße. Den optischen Abschluß der Linden bildet in Richtung Alexanderplatz der Palast der Republik.
